Pairs (day 3)

Our last day we decided that everything we ate had to be take away, no sit down restaurants. Breakfast consisted of a visit to the bakery for french bread, french bread with brie and salad, and a spinach and salmon quiche.  Yum!  We topped off breakfast with an apple crumble and a chocolate covered biscuit. All shared of course.

Our first stop was The Catacombs.   It was a steep climb down.   This shows one of the set of steps down to a water well.

The Catacombs were created when the amount of deceased bodies buried in Paris started contaminating the ground water supply. The city decided that the bones needed to be moved outside the city limits into old quarries.

Next we found a outdoor market.

We ate crepes from a stand and bought wine and cheese. Then found an amphitheater to enjoy the wine and cheese and some sunshine.

Finally it was back to our hotel to pick up our luggage and head to the train station.

Before we knew it we were on our way back to London.

What a great weekend!

A few random thoughts:
  • Leisure Class was worth every penny spent on the upgrade.
  • We didn't see many other kids Avery's age in line for the Eiffel Tower or any of the other big sights, with a little bit of effort you can make sightseeing work with a 7 month old.
  • Packing light is key but making sure we have enough food, bibs, clothes and diapers is just as important.
  • Thanks Uncle Adam and Aunt Kim for American green veggies for Avery!
