Thursday August 26th was our last full day in London. We had dinner at our local pizza place and then said goodbye to Two and A Half Rudall Crescent before heading to the hotel at the airport to stay the night. Our flights Friday went great, Avery was her typical traveling champ. She especially loved her new headphones.
We arrived in Austin before 6pm and were welcomed home with a full Mexican dinner courtesy of our awesome neighbors where we were staying the weekend. We had lists of things to get done over the weekend but we also got to enjoy the beautiful weather and catch up with lots of old friends.
Monday our furniture in storage was delivered to our old house. Yes, that's right we moved back into our old house. Josh's parents arrived Monday afternoon as well to bring Pepper home and help unpack. That night we had beds, clean sheets and clean towels. Avery even slept in her brand new big girl bed. The following days were spent unpacking and the washing machine and dishwasher were running almost 24/7. That Saturday Josh took a one way flight to Houston where he had already bought a motorcycle. That Wednesday we bought an Acadia for me that I had already negotiated on line before returning to the US. By the time Bubbe and PopPop left on Labor Day we barely had a handful of boxes left to be unpacked.
On Wednesday my parents arrived. Avery had a 2 year well visit with the pediatrician. She weighed in the 90th percentile, her height was in the 80th and bmi in the 80th. Unfortunately she had to get caught up with a few vaccinations but it was amazing how quickly a sucker turned tears into a smile. She checked out just fine!
Thursday I had my first US OB appointment. It was great to see Dr. Cowan and all his nurses and know that we will get the best medical care and support we need. I was referred to a perinatal doctor for a specialist ultrasound for baby and was able to get in that same afternoon. Baby girl is weighing in at over 6lbs! Her esophagus, heart, stomach and kidneys are showing normal development . I have over 2 gallons of amniotic fluid, much higher than normal. Since her organs have developed normally Dr. Berry is guessing that her tongue is large, a typical DS trait, and that she isn't swallowing efficiently causing the high levels of amniotic fluid. I go back in this Thursday to check the fluid level again. The high fluid level is causing me to feel 40 weeks pregnant and causing breathlessness. There is a chance that the high level of fluid may cause early labor. Dr. Berry even suggested starting to carry towels with me, yikes!
Grandpa painted baby's room pink and the office, now playroom and bold yellow. Grandma made curtains for baby girl's room and updated Avery's curtains. Friday our international shipment arrived, much sooner than expected. Our container was randomly pulled in customs for an x-ray which could have slowed things down for weeks. It's funny that I saw all our stuff get packed up and shipped out but it was still shocking to see how much stuff was delivered back to us. So we were back to unpacking, washing clothes, cleaning toys and trying to figure out where everything should go. Grandma and Grandpa left Monday.
We took full advantage of both grandparents help with a roaring pace of unpacking. But I will be taking it at a much slower pace now.
